Plant Monograph

Squash plants serve as excellent ground covers in permaculture systems, suppressing weeds with their large leaves while conserving soil moisture. Part of the traditional 'Three Sisters' guild with corn and beans, they create beneficial microclimates. Their sprawling vines can be trained vertically on trellises to maximize space, or used to shade heat-sensitive crops. The large flowers attract pollinators, enhancing garden biodiversity.
